The use of Technology to Support the Innovative Teaching of Mathematics to Students with SEBD: A Debate Related to the use of Technology in the Classroom to Promote Inclusion

Abstract


This paper explores in detail the innovative uses of technology that link to a connectionist approach together with a reference to classroom experience. This paper ties the debates related to the use of technology in the classroom into broader issues relating to inclusivity.
It also recognises the individual difference of students within the classroom framed around a recognition of social and emotional differences. This is thought about and understood as a pedagogical challenge and one in which technology facilitates shifts (or the opportunity to shift) in the approach to teaching utilised. It is argued this will be beneficial for all, and potentially crucial for some, and a convincing case is presented.
